Career Opportunities

The Microelectronics Support Centre is part of Technology at STFC and offers excellent career opportunities. We have current vacancies for graduates.

Working in the Microelectronics Support Centre

As one of our team of experts, you will be working with the latest available tools from the top EDA vendors on modern deep, and ultra deep, sub-micron processes.

You will become a specialist in one (or more) of the following areas:

  • Digital system design
  • Analogue, RF, and mixed-signal IC design
  • High-level design and system-on-a-chip (SoC & SoPC)
  • Embedded systems (hardware/software co-design)
  • ESL tools, methodologies and access to IP blocks
  • Technology CAD (TCAD)
  • Microsystems, MEMS and Microfluidics
  • System-Level ASIC and FPGA design
  • Printed Circuit Boards (PCB)
  • System-in-Package (SiP)

You will apply your in-depth technical knowledge supporting STFC's in-house design teams to develop instrumentation to enable fundamental science research, as well as providing varied technical support to academics across Europe via the Europractice Project.

Alongside providing expert technical support, you will develop example designs to validate design tool, process design kit, and design flow interoperability. You will also work on the MSC's technical training courses contributing material and delivering training lectures and demonstrations to the academic community.

In order to provide this level of expertise to our users, you will be given plenty of technical, industry-relevant training opportunities, often placing you a step ahead of your peers in industry.

Working in the Microelectronics Support Centre puts you in a unique position working with tools from many of the leading EDA software vendors across a variety of process technologies to support a wide range of users with a diverse set of designs, and ultimately enabling the next generation of Microelectronic engineers and playing a role in securing the future of Microelectronics design in Europe.
