The STIMESI Stimulation Action is a European Union Sixth Framework project
which aims to stimulate European academia in the design, research and
teaching of micro-electro-mechanical-system (MEMS) and Systems-in-Package
(SiP) technologies. This stimulation will be encouraged through the
organization of both theoretical and practical training courses in the
different MEMS technologies, which will equip academic researchers with the
knowledge and skills they require to both submit designs for fabrication
and provide instruction to colleagues and students in MEMS implementation.
To maximize the impact of this project, these training events will be run
at various locations across Europe and will cover a wide range of relevant
topics including topics that address the capabilities of the fabrication
process and recommended design methodologies and design rules. Typical
courses also include looking at the various approaches used in the
analytical modelling of MEMS as well as the different methods of packaging,
system integration, and signal processing available. In addition the
training courses contain hands-on design tutorials which include
step-by-step instruction in the use of leading CAD tools, a core component
of MEMS and SiP design.
The STIMESI Stimulation Action is complementary to the design tools and
design libraries for MEMS and SiP which are available through the
EUROPRACTICE service.
